  Introduction:
Gorway Probus Club was founded in 1982 for retired and semi-retired men with Professional & Business
backgrounds and is one of a number of Probus Clubs in the Walsall area. (Note, there are also Ladies Probus
  Clubs in the area)
The Club comprises a lively bunch of men with an age range spanning from the 60s to the 90s. With such a
group of experienced people there is a wealth of knowledge to both share and of course to learn and this is
done in an atmosphere of friendship and fellowship at Club meetings.
Walsall is located in the south of the ancient County of Staffordshire, 8 miles north west of Birmingham and 6
miles to the east of Wolverhampton.
  Meetings:
Meetings are held on the 3rd Thursday morning of each month at 10,00am at the Aldridge Masonic Hall, The
Compass Suites, The Green, Aldridge, Walsall, WS9 8NH and last around two hours (Click for map). The first
part takes the form of a business meeting when the Club Officers and Activity Leaders update all members on
the section activities. Once the business is over, there is a five minute talk by one of the members on any topic
they choose. There is then a coffee break which gives members an opportunity to circulate and exchange
greetings and views, there is never a shortage of conversation !! Following the coffee break there is a more
formal talk, usually by a visiting speaker, and these cover a wide range of subjects followed by a question and
  answer session.
  Activities:
Members can also enjoy regular participation in outdoor bowls (indoors in the winter), snooker, computers and
  walking.
The above activities are supplemented by visits to various places of interest, skittle evenings, theatres and
holidays. Ladies are invited to join in these activities along with two celebration lunches each year.
  Welfare:
Welfare is an important issue and the well being of our indisposed members is monitored by an Almoner who
  updates members at each meeting.
  Membership:
The Club is non political, non sectarian and autonomous although part of a wider movement. Club
membership is limited to 75. Applications for membership are most welcome provided the application is
supported by two members who have been members for 2 years.
